I heard a lie the other day
The Man told me it’s OK–
work at home, stay out the snow
watch the flakes from your window

Vacation now he wants to dock
Pleas of reason he’ll just mock
With vengeful hands he’ll sign the checks,
say thank-you now, move along and Next!

I heard a lie the other day
A woman told me it’s OK–
friends’ we’ll be with no connection
see this way, it’s not rejection.

I text her words and friendly notions
Remove all hints of love emotions
Waiting for succinct replies
I fill the days with heavy sighs
